djeggnog invited me to start a new thread about the blood doctrine, which i am happy to do here.

his objection was my statement,.

Surely using blood to obtain blood factions is using blood which if it is sacred what permission do you have to do this?

Yes, but in the same way that using the plastic bottle that folks that drink bottled water use is like using crude oil. The plastic bottle would be a crude oil fraction, which hardly resembles what it was before it was processed from it into plastic. I think it would be a stretch to say that someone you see littering by tossing their empty plastic bottle of water from their car onto the highway has littered the highway with crude oil,

I think if it was my crude oil you were turning into plastic bottles without my permission I wouldn't be too happy. How about you?

However I also think that just as with the organ transplant, whatever was decided by the GB you would endorse. Even a reversal on the blood. Am I right?

Worldly people don't suck

my wife (never a jw) is ill and undergoing a series of treatments that will last for many months.

it's a physical, emotional, and financial drain on both of us.. my wife has run her own business for many years and has an extensive client list that includes some very well-to-do folks.

one of those clients called her one day and offered to pay all of her medical expenses.

I have a friend who became ill. She had people arriving at her door and leaving her dinners and helping out, people she didn't know. She was not a JW and never has been.

When I was ill and needed to claim assistance from the government. Nobody from the congregation came or phoned. One Brother enquired through a relative as to why I was not at the meetings. (An Elder who had served for many years as PO) When he was informed I was ill. He asked if I was still working. (Hinting that if I was I should be at the meetings) I wasn't working he was informed. Nobody phoned or visited. A week later the Elder cancelled my magazine order as I hadn't been able to collect them (Although my relative who was attending and he had spoken to regarding my lack of attendence had a much larger quantity of magazines to collect)

In 1987 we had the worst storm in over 300 years. Hurricane force winds uprooted millions of trees. We were awakened by the noise and vibration of our bed moving across the bedroom floor.

At the following meeting an Elder announced how everyone was ok and everyone in the congregation had been phoned regarding the situation. We nor my relatives every recieved a phone call from any of the Elders regarding the storm and damage or if we were alright.

(Just as a side point as I didnt cancelled my magazine order i never felt the need to reinstate it. Therefore I attended without a watchtower for several years)

I always understood that one of the identifying marks of true christianity was the love amongst themselves. I can't say I felt it.

in your answer to TD you said,

"Your question was, how do I know that "abstain ... from blood" means do not eat, do not drink, do not re-use blood"

Only way to save ourselves is by Christ. When God sees you unless you are hidden in Christ he will see your sin.

I kind of see it like we cannot understand love or have the necessary love that God requires by ourselves as we are imperfect. God is love and so as Christians we have love in our hearts by having Christ. Something that Paul was explaining.

To the theists: Your reaction if God hypothetically changed the standards of right and wrong

i have more to say on this and its implications, but i'll keep this short to get some initial discussion.

to those that believe in god, suppose he were to hypothetically change various standards of right and wrong, suppose with the new scrolls to be opened.

things such as rape, theft and immorality are now perfectly fine and acceptable.

When my daughter done her dissertation on Divorce and Remarriage in the New Testament, discussing it with her, we came to the conclusion. It's not advisable but it doesnt really matter. God saves who he wants.

Which means in my view we just hope in Christ as our salvation rather than trying to figure out what we should or shouldn't do. So what standards are there when forgiveness though Christ is there for the worst possible murderer.

Jehovah's Witnesses and their hypocritical entertainment choices.

the couple that i studied with were major hypocrites when it came to their entertainment choices.

i remember the first time i was invited to their house for dinner, this was the first time that we just hung out socially, and they were playing music.

a song came on sung by a girl group that liked to pretend they were bisexuals (or lesbians, whatever) and i thought 'hey, maybe these witnesses are pretty relaxed and cool after all'.. boy was i wrong.

I was counseled by an Elder about watching "Dallas" and the sexual attitudes portrayed in the Series. When I spoke with his son in law, I was told he was actually taping the James Bond movie whilst he was counselling me at the hall.

This is just a passing thought. But it seems better to be a weak JW than a strong one. If you give in to having blood. (I know some who have) you can be forgiven. You may not even be removed as an Elder, a moment of weakness in an illustrious career.

Even if you died after having blood. There is the resurrection and God knows you would have repented later.

However if you are a strong witness. It's just a pat on the back. See the loved one soon.

Forgiveness is a marvelous thing.
